Transfer Credit Evaluation

Resources

There are many resources to help you complete a bachelor鈥檚 degree at Stevenson.

Stevenson is committed to helping transfer students minimize credit loss and complete their degree at Stevenson in as little time as possible. The Registrar鈥檚 Office facilitates the evaluation of credit for students who have earned college credit from another institution or successfully completed Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), CLEP, and/or A/AS level examinations.

Transfer students must submit official transcripts of all previous college records to Stevenson.

Admitted students who have earned college credit in the United States and submitted official transcripts will receive their transfer credit evaluation with their letter or admission and may access their full degree audit online through their WebXpress account. Please note that a student鈥檚 evaluation is preliminary and ongoing. Students should submit additional official transcripts as additional coursework is completed before transfer

Credits will be evaluated using the following guidelines:

  • Students who enter Stevenson with an A.A., A.S., or A.A.T. degree from an accredited community college in the United States, which also meets the minimum State of Maryland requirements, will have met all of Stevenson鈥檚 general education (Stevenson Educational Experience) requirements. Please note a second composition course is required if the student doesn鈥檛 have an equivalent course as part of the associate鈥檚 degree. General education block transfer is of great value because it allows you to focus on coursework in your major once you get to Stevenson, provides you with more flexibility in course scheduling, and helps ensure timely completion of your bachelor鈥檚 degree. Please contact the Admissions Office to discuss how this block transfer option could benefit you.
  • Stevenson maintains numerous articulation agreements with local community colleges to maximize the number of transfer credits that will be accepted, and the Registrar鈥檚 Office uses these agreements to evaluate transcripts.
  • 麻豆社 will accept a up to 70 credits from 2-year institutions.
  • Up to 90 credits can be applied to degree requirements from a combination of 2-year institutions, 4-year institutions, and non-direct classroom instruction (including CLEP, AP, and other nationally recognized standardized examination scores).
  • Program courses and credits completed with a grade of “C” or better and general education credits completed with a grade of 鈥淒” or better at regionally-accredited institutions are transferable to Stevenson, although developmental/remedial, personal development, and orientation courses do not transfer.
  • Students must earn a minimum of 120 credits for a bachelor鈥檚 degree; least 30 of these credits must be completed at Stevenson.
  • Regardless of the number of transfer credits accepted, students must complete the academic program requirements as shown in the Catalog.

NOTE: The transferability of credits from an institution that is not accredited by a regional accreditation agency may be considered if the student provides documentation that demonstrates equivalency regarding course information, and learning outcomes.
